After interviewing John Stamos on The BobbyCast, Bobby shared that he finally worked up the nerve to send the actor his first text message.
Bobby explained that texting someone he doesn't know isn't usually his style, even though Stamos' publicist had specifically passed along his personal phone number after the interview. Mike D confirmed that Stamos had instructed his publicist to make sure Bobby received it. Rather than texting immediately, Bobby waited until the episode was released. He read his message aloud to the show, saying he thanked Stamos for appearing on the podcast, told him he appreciated his generosity, and added that if he ended up coming to Nashville with The Beach Boys, he would love to see him. Bobby also wished him a good week.
The show was surprised when Bobby revealed that Stamos responded just six minutes later. Stamos joked, "Took you long enough to text me," before adding, "so suck it." Bobby replied with, "Haha, fair enough," and Stamos quickly followed up by saying he was kidding, thanking Bobby for having him on the show, and that he looked forward to hearing the episode. Bobby responded that it had turned out great and was now available. Bobby said the brief exchange accomplished exactly what he wanted, it established contact and gave them a text history so Stamos would know who he was if they ever messaged again. He admitted he thought it was "pretty cool" to have John Stamos' cell phone number.
But, did Bobby wait too long before reaching out? Bobby explained that waiting for the episode's release felt like the right reason to make first contact instead of sending a random introduction after receiving the number. Looking ahead, Bobby mentioned that The Beach Boys are expected to perform in Nashville in August. He said he would happily attend if Stamos personally invited him to come and spend some time together. However, Bobby clarified that he wouldn't attend just because tickets were left at will call, he said he would only go if the invitation included the chance to meet up with Stamos.
