Carrie Underwood reunited with some of her fellow American Idol alumni from the show’s fourth season in 2005.
Longtime host Ryan Seacrest crowned Underwood the winner of that season. Twenty years after her career-launching victory, the award-winning country star returned to the show as a judge for the first time. Underwood had several nostalgic moments on American Idol this week, including re-creating her iconic performance of “Alone” by Heart, and wearing the same dress she wore when she won the season finale 20 years ago.
“Loved reuniting with some of the [American Idol] class of 2005 last night!” Underwood wrote as she shared a group photo on Instagram. Underwood — wearing her winning dress — stood alongside former contestants Lindsey Cardinale, Anthony Federov, Constantine Maroulis, Vonzell Solomon and Mikalah Gordon.
“I knew from the moment I met you - you were destined for great things,” Maroulis wrote in a comment. “Watching you grow in so many ways over the last 20 years, albeit from afar has been a true highlight for me and my family… Here’s to the next 20 years Carrie Underwood! It was so lovely to see you… So grounded & such a good vibes on the day thank you! 🤘🏽🤠🤘🏽”
Gordon added in a comment of her own, “so proud of you Carrie!! ❤️” Other commenters embraced the emotional blast from the past. See the photo here:
