Let’s go, girls…

The countdown is on for new music from country music icon Shania Twain, she announced on her social media channels on Monday (September 19). Twain shared the cover art of her upcoming single, donning a cowboy hat and stunning high-heeled boots. She noted the adrenaline rush she still feels as she announced the dawn of a new chapter, beginning with her next song, “Waking Up Dreaming,” and shared a snippet on TikTok on Monday afternoon:

“Every time I get to announce something like this I get such a rush of adrenaline and nerves - it never gets old... I am super excited to share with you that my new song 'Waking Up Dreaming' is coming out this Friday!! I've spent the last couple years working away on new music... on my documentary... on the Vegas residency and it's been such a creatively fulfilling time for me, I can't wait for this next chapter and Waking Up Dreaming is just the start.”

The announcement from Twain comes shortly after she received the Poet’s Award at the 15th Annual ACM Honors, hosted at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The award honors “an international superstar and one of Country Music's most versatile and invigorating songwriters, with instantly-recognizable hits and the title of top-selling female Country Pop artist of all time,” according to the Academy of Country Music.

Last week, Twain seemingly hinted at new music on the way when she shared a clip of her acceptance speech — during which she shared a wise word of advice to aspiring songwriters — and asked in her caption, with a wink: “Are you ready to hear some more of my songwriting skills?”

Twain will share more of her songwriting skills when she releases “Waking Up Dreaming” on Friday (September 23).
