A survivor of the deadly shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde got a surprise visit from one of her favorite singers while in the hospital.
Mayah Zamora, 10, is a patient at University Children's Hospital in San Antonio. She's recovering from multiple bullet wounds and has been hospitalized for over a month, according to MySanAntonio.
In a tweet, country singer Kevin Fowler shared his experience with the Zamora family that led him to the surprise visit. "I have to tell y’all about the most amazing little girl I met yesterday! We got a call last week from some of the staff at University Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. They told us about one of their patients, Mayah Zamora," the "Long Line of Losers" singer said.
He added that Mayah was a huge fan and her family was planning on attending a local show the weekend before the shooting occurred. "She was very sad that they couldn’t attend the show. The hospital staff asked if there was any way we could come by and surprise her. What an amazing experience it was meeting this sweet little girl! She’s way braver than I could ever be," he said.
Fowler shared a photo on Twitter of him next to Mayah, who was sporting a Kevin Fowler baseball hat. A KF T-shirt is also seen on the hospital bed behind them. "This whole experience really hit home with me. I have three daughters and I can’t imagine one of my babies going through this. Her parents, Christina and Ruben Zamora are absolute angels and by her side nonstop. The family could use any help that y’all can give," Fowler added.
A GoFundMe has been created for Mayah and her family. At the time of publication, nearly $100,000 has been raised.
