Even though it's Carrie Underwood's birthday, the country superstar is giving her fans a surprise gift—a new song. On Wednesday (March 10), Underwood released her cover version of 'Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus' from her upcoming gospel album My Savior.
'Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus' is the third track Underwood has released ahead of My Savior's release. She previously dropped her renditions of 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness' and 'Softly And Tenderly.'
On this latest hymn, Underwood is joined by Bear Rinehart, the frontman of Need to Breathe. In an Instagram video showing the making of this song, Underwood said she wanted to bring another voice "in the mix" to make the hymn sound "more current."
In a trailer for My Savior shared to her YouTube account, Underwood said this is an album she's always wanted to make. "I wanted to do the familiar. I wanted to do the songs I grew up singing," she explained. "The songs on this album are literally songs I've heard since birth." She described the songs she's recording for My Savior as being "like a warm hug."
My Savior will arrive on March 26.
