Repairing after the storm in Florence County

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. – Residents are reminded to obtain permits for repairs to damaged structures within the floodplain. Repairs and/or reconstruction activities to structures that are located in the floodplain and were damaged due to the event will require a floodplain development permit from the local building permitting office. This is a FEMA requirement for our community’s ability to obtain flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program.

Residents of Florence County, Johnsonville, Olanta, Pamplico, Quinby, Scranton, and Timmonsville that has experience any storm related damage should contact Florence County’s Planning and Building Department at 843.676.8600. Staff will provide you information regarding a Flood Insurance Claim, help determine whether a permit is required and assist you through the process.

Damage assessment teams are in the field conducting necessary damage surveys. Should you encounter a damage assessment team in your area, they can answer any questions have and will be helpful in getting you the information you need.
